People like me definitely have a weakness when it comes to food, especially sweet food!
Sometimes, I am not even able to control my sweet temptations, which is a bad thing by the way. I am trying to but now one thing that I am glad about is the fact that I am slowly becoming more sensitive to sugar. Like, whenever I have something too sweet, my sweet buds will alert me that the dish is too sweet and that I need water. Even something like a kinder bueno, which is one of my favourite chocolates of all time by the way, can make my taste buds go "eww" because it's too sweet. Not because of the walnut chocolate cream within the chocolate, that is the amazing part! The coating is too sweet for me for some reason. This is because I've relatively started eating less sugar slowly. And if I consume any drinks, I make sure that there is the healthier choice logo so that I know that there is less sugar. We humans need a certain amount of sugar. And one way we can control it and feel less guilty about it is when we pick drinks with the healthier choice logo. When you start eating less sugar, you will become more sensitive to sugar because you are not used to that level of sweetness anymore. You just do not prefer too sweet stuff anymore. You just want something just perfect that will melt in your mouth. Something that appeals to your senses. Not satisfies your craving. And by becoming more sensitive to sugar, it benefits your health because you will eat less sugar in the long run, which means that you won't have that many problems in the long run. Your level of health problems would decrease. Even recently, I wanted to have my usual dessert, sticky toffee pudding. But however, I am glad that I did not take it because I knew that I was craving for it. But also, my body didn't want to take too much food. So, I just went in and shared 1/2 of a piece of tiramisu cake to satisfy my taste buds, and it was just nice! It wasn't too much and yet, my sweet buds got satisfied. I'm glad I did not order the sticky toffee pudding the other day or I would end up being bloated! Yeah, so by eating less sugar as a whole, whether it is picking choices with the healthier logo or not eating something super sweet often or whatever, it will slowly benefit you in the long run.

So, we all know that Dove has an advertisement campaign that talks about women body positivity. The campaign is accepting all types of body shapes and sizes. Which is a good initiative. Everyone's body frame and shape is different. But, does body positivity mean glorifying obesity? Obesity is one of the biggest health issues around the world, especially in countries like the United States of America. We need to address serious health issues and obesity is one of them. We should actually do something to address health issues like obesity such as making fun exercises or making tasty vegetarian dishes. Glorifying obesity is different from celebrating body positivity. Why? Glorifying obesity means that you idolise a health problem, which can lead to horrible consequences in the long run. What kind of consequences? Health problems like hypertension, type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke and all of the fatal stuff. Obesity can lead to deaths via heart attacks as well. By celebrating obesity as body positivity, you are encouraging people to not care for their health, which makes them want to eat whatever they want every day, even if it means eating deep fried chicken nuggets or buffalo wings every day. Also, too much meat does lead to obesity, heart attack, diabetes and stoke and God knows how many more problems. What is the difference between celebrating body positivity and glorifying obesity? There is a difference. Read above to find out what glorifying obesity means. Celebrating body positivity is all about embracing different body shapes and sizes. It does not glorify health problems like obesity. It just encourages you to accept all different body frames. Not every female has the ideal hourglass figure and not every male has the ideal ripped abs body. Celebrating body positivity is not about not caring for your health. Celebrating body positivity does encourage you to care for your health as well. See, if a woman is not skinny, it does not necessarily mean that she is overweight or obese. If she is not skinny, but, the doctor states that her health condition is improving or is good, then you know that that is the way she is built in terms of body shape, size and frame. You can't just assume that every woman who doesn't have the hourglass body figure is just fat. It could be possible that she is built that way and that's her natural body frame. If it is genetic, what can she do about it? Think about where I am coming from in this perspective. What matters the most?In between while we celebrate body positivity, what matters the most is your health. If we focus on celebrating good health and body positivity together, we can easily accept all body shapes and sizes because by focusing on mainly good health, you will automatically understand that everyone's body shape and size is different because despite knowing that they have good health conditions, they are not built the ideal way. You will understand that our body shape is determined by our lifestyle and genetics we get from our parents.
As the Durga Puja season kicks in, this is the time where we can relish amazing food and try out different Indian cuisines! However, for vegetarian foodies, it is hard for them to relish amazing dishes from different cuisines and will have to stick to the usual sambhar rice or paneer butter masala with naan because they think that there is no other option for them or no variety for their taste buds. Being partially Parsi (I'm 25% Gujarati who originates from Maharashtra), partially a North Indian Brahmin (I'm 25% North Indian Brahmin) and half Chinese (I'm 50% Chinese), I am bound to explore different cuisines and dishes. Not just because of my racial division, but also because I have friends from different countries and cultures, so I tend to explore a lot more cuisines and dishes when I am with them. However, I am a budding lacto-ovo vegetarian, so I cannot try out dishes with meat or seafood. But, I am currently at the stage where I do not eat chicken every day. I've left red meat and I occasionally eat chicken and seafood. So, for vegetarian foodies who want to eat different things during this Navratri season, with the cuisines of West Bengal and Kerala being high on meat and seafood, here are vegetarian choices where you can try making at home and binging on it. Begun BhajaBegun Bhaja literella means "Fried Brinjal" in Bengali. And it is really yummy! I remembered last time, that I went out for some Bengali food for dinner and I had Begun Bhaja with some Mustard Fish curry, rice and luchi bread. It was so good that you can just binge on the brinjal like literally! The brinjal is marinated in a little salt, turmeric, chilli powder and some sugar, if needed. They are fried off until the exteriors become crunchy brown exteriors. Aloo PoshtoOther than Vada Pav and Aloo Paratha fans, Bengalis love potatoes to the core. And when I mean to the core, I mean LITERALLY to the core! It's a simple potato curry dish that is made from poppy seeds and potatoes along with green chillies, mustard oil. Nigella seeds are used to flavour the curry dish. The best thing about Aloo Poshto is that there are different types of potato curry dishes, such as Poshto Phoolkopi and Jhinge Aloo Poshto. LabraLabra is literally a Bengali mashup of different vegetables! This dish is preferably cooked with mustard oil. Pumpkins, potatoes, carrots, spinach and cauliflower are mixed up together and they just become that simple Bengali vegetable curry dish. It isn't really curry as the dish isn't too soupy. However, it is called a curry dish because of the flavourings. Echorer DalnaKnown as Jackfruit curry, this dish will satisfy your savoury taste buds. You will enjoy it so much that you will probably not regret it! Postor BoraFritters based on the paste made out of poppy seeds, it is mized with basic vegetables like green chillies, onion and they are all mixed together into the shape of a patty and then deep-fried in oil. Simple basic dishes like these can give one more happiness than a 5-star meal can. Aloo BhaajaA very simple but yummy dish, it's basically shredded potatoes that are deep fried! AvialOne of the most popular dishes originating from the South Indian state of Kerala, Avial is a mixed vegetable curry where vegetables like yellow cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, drumsticks, chayote squash, elephant yam and raw plantain are mixed together in a sauce made out of spiced coconut and yogurt. Trust me, it is one of the tastiest yogurt coconut Indian curries ever! NeichoruNeichoru is simply Ghee rice, topped with raisins, fried onions, cashew nuts and maybe some red chillis, it is one of the most basic, yet tastiest dishes, that you can mix with your favourite curry dishes! Karikku DosaA kind of dosa made from tender coconut, this dish will melt in your mouth! KallappamA traditional breakfast dish among the Christians from Kerala, this dish is best served with a vegetarian or non-vegetarian stew or vegetarian kurma. Banana Coconut FryKnown as Kerala's Banana halwa, this has got to be one of the sweetest banana dishes ever! Elaneer PuddingKerala's tender coconut pudding is just as sweet as coconut's flesh is itself. Let the pudding melt in your mouth and just enjoy it in the moment. ChattapathiriA layered pastry made in the northern region of Malabar in Kerala, there are sweet and savoury variations to this dish, which makes it interesting!
So, I was watching the trailer of Rajkumar Rao's upcoming film, Made in China, and a thought has suddenly struck me. Rajkumar Rao is a lacto-vegetarian, a vegetarian who avoids meat, seafood and eggs in real life. And thinking about his diet, I just wonder how do vegetarians like Rajkumar Rao survive in a country like China, especially the fact that Made in China was partially shot in China itself, other than Ahmedabad, a city in Gujarat, since Rajkumar Rao plays a Gujarati Businessman in the film. So, after thinking about it, I have decided to make a post on how one can survive as a vegetarian in countries like China, where meat is a staple in such countries and that vegetarian choices are limited. Research up on restaurants or places that provide vegetarian choices before you visit a certain city of a certain country. So, let's say that you are visiting Shanghai, a city in China. Whether it is for a work conference or a school exchange programme or a holiday or whatever, you definitely are strict about not touching even 0.000001% of meat. So, before you travel to Shanghai, search up on restaurants that provide vegetarian options for you. If you are someone who doesn't eat eggs, then search up for vegetarian restaurants in Shanghai, where they will provide eggless options as mains. This helps you explore the other side of China other than just the meaty side of China AND you will be able to survive in Shanghai. Take advice from your vegetarian friends who have visited countries like ChinaThe vegetarians who have not visited China should definitely take tips on how to survive as a vegetarian in countries like China. They should take tips from those who are vegetarian AND who have managed to survive in countries like China or Korea during their travels to that country. With these tips provided, you would actually learn how to survive in such countries and you will be able to survive after taking the advice of your vegetarian buddies who have visited China and managed to survive there. Pack some ready-to-eat food into your luggageFor instance, if you are travelling from the United States or Singapore to China, make sure you pack some ready-to-eat food so that if you do not feel like eating outside, you can just heat up your food and eat it. It's definitely not the healthiest but it's better to pack vegetarian ready-to-eat food choices than to go out and eat meat by accident, especially if you are a strict vegetarian. I honestly suggest pack Indian ready-to-eat food packets so that you do not stress out on whether the dish is a non-vegetarian dish or contains egg. Most food packets are lacto-vegetarian. But again, just double check the labels before you purchase them. When you buy packet food in China, please try to read the ingredient list before you make your purchaseThis is very important, especially for vegetarians. Anywhere you go, before you make a purchase, any purchase that is, please read the labels before you purchase them because you don't want to be hitting yourself hard when you find out that you have unknowingly eaten something with chicken substances or chicken chunks that didn't seem visible. By reading the ingredient list of a food packet, not only you become more aware of a dish being non-vegetarian, but also, you will be bound to make healthier choices due to the ingredients and nutrition list. Speaking of which, you should check out the trailer of Made In China below! This trailer, the fact that the film was partially shot in China and Rajkumar Rao's lacto-vegetarian diet has inspired me to make this post! This trailer is the bomb! You will love it! We all know that women desire to have a curvy body. However, not every female is lucky to have a curvy body. Genetics do play a big part in our body shape. However, it is still possible to get a curvy body by picking the right choices of food and exercising regularly. Below are the exercises for a woman to get a curvy body. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)Incorporating HIIT into your daily workout helps in achieving the body you desire as HIIT is effective in fat loss from the mid part of your body, which helps in you achieving your body goals. How many times should I do this exercise in a week? Sources have recommended one to incorporate HIIT into their workout for at least three days a week with each session lasting from 20 to 25 minutes. Strength Training aka WeightsLifting weights does not necessarily mean that you will become 100% muscular or masculine as a whole. In fact, weights do help in actually toning your body muscles and burning body fats. Focus on the main areas such as your arms, legs, abdomen, back, hips, shoulders and chest. Start with one set of each exercise, consisting of eight to 12 reps. As you become stronger, increase the number of sets you do. How many times should I do this exercise in a week? Sources have recommended one to incorporate strength training related exercises twice a week at least. Leg and Butt-related exercisesIncorporate exercises such as squats, lunges, dead lifts and step-ups in your workout as these exercises help to burn fat around your lower body area. We women mostly tend to store bad fats around that area. So incorporating these exercises into our workouts would actually help to reduce fat from the lower body area onwards. How many times should I do this exercise in a week? Personally, I would say do in every workout. HOWEVER, do try to keep it for 10-15 minutes. YogaBelieve it or not, Yoga actually helps you in achieving your ideal body. Sakshi Tanwar, the Dangal actress, swears upon Yoga and makes it her full-time workout. She gives credit to Yoga for her curvy body and she embraces it. Certain poses in Yoga would help in shaping your body and burning the excess fat in your body. How many times should I do this exercise in a week? If you swear upon Yoga, try to do it for 40-50 minutes five times a week. SwimmingSwimming is a great workout as your entire body is engaged in fat burning. Swimming is a good cardio exercise as it is a low on the impact level, which means there is a lower risk of getting injuries while swimming. However, along with swimming, one should add weightlifting to their workout as well.
How many times should I do this exercise in a week? Depending on whether your house or apartment has a swimming pool, try to aim for around three to four times a week of swimming. For most meat-eaters, it is hard for them to consume vegetables and have the perception that vegetables taste horrible. However, vegetarians do know how to make non-meaty dishes taste really amazing! There are some vegetarian dishes, which in fact are, the tastiest dishes that you would ever taste. Here are some tips on how you can convince yourself to consume vegetables. Hang out with vegetarian foodies more oftenAs a person who is gradually turning into a vegetarian and a foodie, the biggest advantage of excluding meat from your diet is that you become more adventurous when it comes to food. You will explore and find more vegetarian places or places that offer vegetarian dishes and you are bound to go and explore them and try them out. And with vegetarian foodies, you are guaranteed to try some good stuff! Try exploring different vegetarian and vegan recipes that look tempting to youYou will find tons and tons of vegetarian and vegan recipes online, especially on Instagram, Google and Pinterest. Instructions are also provided to make these dishes. So, yeah, with guidance from the Internet and ideas, you are able to explore different varieties of dishes that you can easily make at home. Do not eat raw vegetables too oftenIt is ok to have vegetables that are raw, as long as you are used to eat. However, do not survive on solely plain lettuce with some soya or sesame sauce because that definitely does not motivate you to add vegetables in your diet. It only will last for a few days and eventually, you will ditch your vegetables. Make salads with different fruits and vegetables and maybe add quinoa, garlic rice or some type of base to make your vegetarian dish look good. Add some protein like tofu or tempeh or eggs (if you eat them). Well, these are the tips that I have to offer for now, from my personal experience at least. Try them out and I am sure you will start loving vegetables eventually.
I know people will start laughing or making fussy reactions when it comes to eating vegetables and fruits, especially most non-vegetarians. I understand how you feel because I was in that spot as well. However, after eliminating red meat from my diet and reducing my chicken intake and increasing my intake in plant-based sources, I have experienced a lot of benefits and I am going to share with you on why a vegetarian diet is better than a non-vegetarian diet in the long run. A more balanced diet in terms of nutrientsMost animal-based dishes would contain a high amount of saturated fats, protein, cholesterol and omega 3 fatty acids. However, meat does not meet your daily nutrient requirements. But rather, having more vegetables will keep your diet more balanced and will help you meet your daily nutrition requirements. For that, keep your meat intake to 200-300 grams a day and increase your intake in vegetables and fruits. Lower risk of getting health problemsEating too much meat is known to cause problems like cholesterol problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases and certain types of cancer. However, vegetables and fruits will lower the risk of getting these kind of health problems and will increase your intake in fibre, potassium and keep your diet low in sodium and fats. Lower risk of weight gainStudies have shown that in general, vegetarians are leaner and fitter than non-vegetarians. Vegetarians have a healthier Body Mass Index (BMI), a more controlled blood pressure and a lower cholesterol level as well. However, it also depends on the food choices that one makes. If someone eats vegetarian junk food 24/7, they will face the same health problems that a person who eats meat 24/7 with no vegetables will have as well. There are cases where some non-vegetarians are healthier than vegetarians because they eat more vegetables than vegetarians who eat unhealthy junk food 24/7. High chance of your lifespan increasingSince vegetarians have a lower risk in getting problems like certain types of cancer, obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease and other health problems, their lifespan increases. Although again, it depends on the food choices that one makes. Good for your digestive systemA vegetarian diet has a higher fibre content than a non-vegetarian diet. This means that the risk of digestive distress is higher in a meat-based diet than in a plant-based diet. A plant-based diet is higher in fibre, vegetables, legumes, fruits and grains. It helps to keep your digestive system functioning normally.
This post is targeted to those who:
I know this post sounds preachy. But believe me, I used to think that being a non-vegetarian was the best, until I started reducing my meat intake and cutting off red meat from my diet. I have experienced so many health benefits. From my stamina improving to feeling lighter and more energetic to my health conditions improving and to feeling less heaty, there are just so many benefits when you eliminate meat from your diet. I know some people who really love meat to the core. However, they do face problems like acne and feeling heaty and all of that. People facing these problems would want to get rid of these problems but on the other hand, do not have the willpower or are not convinced on the harmful effects of eating excessive meat in the long run. So, here are some effects of consuming excess meat in the long run. You will gain weightYes, protein does help in building muscles and losing weight. However, too much meat does not help in weight loss. But rather, it will cause you to gain weight, which will in the long run, lead to obesity. Your hair's condition starts to look rough and unkemptWhile binging on your meat and proteins, you are definitely missing out on other nutrient groups. For good hair conditions, your diet requires a decent amount of vitamin C and vitamin C is rarely found in animal products. It is mostly found in vegetables like lettuce, tomatoes, green vegetables like spinach, broccoli, green and red peppers, sweet potatoes and many more vegetables. The function of vitamin C is that vitamin C helps to build collagen, a protein that gives structure to skin, hair, nails, bones, and many more things. If you are vitamin C deficient, this is because of excessive meat consumption. AND, your body will show these signs:
So, guys, if you want to just look good other than just the hair, please add more vegetables into your diet. Consume more green vegetables and peppers. You could fall sick more oftenLacking vitamin C in your diet does not only affect your looks, but it also affects your immunity level. When your immunity level is affected, you will fall sick more often AND you will take a longer time to even recover from a basic sickness like that of a simple flu. Constipation problemsHow do you know if your body lacks fibre? It will be told through your constipation problems. Meat has nearly zero fibre. The sources of good fibre you will get will be that from fruits, vegetables and whole grains. To prevent constipation problems, reduce your meat intake and add more vegetables and fruits into your diet. You are at risk of getting a heart disease in the long runBy eating too much meat, you are putting your heart at risk. How? See, fibre is found in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. So, by eating too much meat, your body will lack fibre and fibre, is good at preventing cholesterol from being absorbed into your body. Especially if you eat too much red and processed meat, which are high in LDL Cholesterol and bad saturated fats, you are putting yourself at risk by increasing the chances of you getting a heart disease in the long run. Inflammation problems in the long runMeat contains saturated fats, which means that the saturated fats in the meat will boost inflammation problems in your body. Also, meat does not contain inflammation-fighting oxidants, which then again, means that the risk of getting inflammation problems in your body increases. You will most likely develop kidney stonesProtein is good. But however, too much protein increases the risk of kidney stones being developed in your kidney. And how does kidney stones in your kidneys develop? The kidney stones develop from excessive animal-based protein sources like red meat, processed meat, chicken etc. Animal-based proteins are full of purine, a certain compound in animal protein, which then breaks down into uric acid. Too much uric acid in your kidney develops the risk of getting kidney stones in your body. Your risk of getting different types of cancer increasesEating too much red and processed meat in a week, such as that of pork, beef and frozen meat and all of that increases the risk of you developing certain types of cancer. Some of these would be colorectal cancer and stomach cancer. Sources have recommended a person to eat at most eight kilograms of meat, which includes red and white meat, in total, in a week. You will feel dehydrated more oftenAs meat contains a lot of uric acid, having a heavy meat-based diet means making you feel more thirsty than usual. With more toxic products developing in the kidneys, the demand for water increases. In fact, to produce urine in one's body, water is needed to be pulled out from our bodies. So, just drink more water and sip more often! Unknowingly, you are negatively affecting the environment's climateIf you do not care about your health, at least think about the environment that you are living in. Do you know that you are contributing to climate change, by eating excessive meat and binging on meat? Now you know this. One kilogram of beef being farmed means that:
One kilogram of pork being farmed means that:
So, by reducing the amount of meat you consume, you are not only going to benefit in terms of health, but you will be making your environment a better place to live in in the long run. So, my point is, I agree that eating meat is very enjoyable for many of us as I was in that position in the past. However, after ditching red meat and reducing my seafood and poultry intake drastically, I have noticed that it has taken a positive toll on my body. From increasing my stamina to making me feel lighter to just making my hair and face glow more thanks to consuming more vegetables, I feel glad about the choice that I have made about turning into a lacto-ovo vegetarian gradually.
At least that way, I will be contributing to the environment and making my environment a better place to live in, wherever I am. I do not only care about my health, but I care about the environment and I definitely do not want the world to be a toxic place to live in through greenhouse gases. For my next post, I will write about how a meat-eater can improve his or her health by eating more vegetables and fruits. I will write about how a meat-eater can get motivation to eat more vegetables and fruits. So... What got me to write this post? The fact that I had two deadly seizures. One on 28/11/2018, where I lost one teeth and three teeth broke into half, and where my face fell flat on the floor. The doctor here told me that for me to apparently have kids in the future, I need to take medication for epilepsy for life. I did not agree to this and believe that living life with medication is just not healthy. I do not know why I would think this way but yeah... It's just like that. If you want to live a healthy and happy life, you just believe that living on full-time medication beats the purpose. So, last Tuesday, I had a deadly seizure, where I would fall on a luggage and then on a floor, and that too, awake. I am so s*** scared now that so many things are running through my head and probably it will be so hard for me to get over it. On one side, I feel hopeful about a better life. But on the other side, I feel hopeless and feel that there is no hope on having a better life. So, after being admitted to the Hospital twice, the doctors told me that to live a normal life, I would have to be on medication for life, especially if I want to have children. Can you imagine hearing this at a young age, when you have not even fully thought about it? You would be like: What is up with the doctors?! And what is worse is that even though I have taken my blood and urine test and an EEG brain scan and everything is shown to be normal, they can say that I am mentally retarded and that there is something abnormal in my brain. I mean... Is that what a patient wants to hear? They want to have hope to live a better life in the future, where they can enjoy every thing freely and just be stress free. And ever since I got discharged on 31/7/2019, which was last Wednesday, there was not a single day where I did not cry and that too, I have cried for at least two hours a day and felt hopeless and suicidal. I just hope that one day, even though I have this long-term health condition, I just wanted to be treated like a normal human being and I want to be trusted and let people know that epileptic people are as capable as normal people and that we deserve to be judged by our character and not our health condition. So, here are the thoughts that runs in an epileptic person's head every day. When will my next seizure happen? If deadly seizures constantly happen to a person, fear will develop in them and it is completely natural. If you lose your teeth, have a scar on your face thanks to seizures like what has happened to me, you are bound to be scared because you will be scared of getting a next deadly seizure. What will happen to me when I get my next seizure? While getting deadly seizures, you just start thinking what will happen next. I can frankly say that right now I am lucky to have not lose my eyesight. But what will happen if I get a seizure the next time? I could possibly lose my arm or leg, or become blind if something sharp enters my eye while getting a seizure or my face can just get disfigured and ruined if I am near hazardous items. Lots of thoughts run through an epileptic person's mind on what will they lose in the next seizure and definitely we do not want to lose something precious to us! People will discriminate me and think that I need special treatment and that I am dependent. It is true, people often think that people with Epilepsy are mentally retarded since it is a brain condition normally. However, not everyone knows that even a person with a normal brain, where there are no abnormalities found in the brain, can have Epilepsy. As mentioned earlier, my brain scan has shown that my brain is normal and that there is no abnormality in my brain. However, doctors in Singapore just say that I am basically retarded and just have tendencies for seizures. They never thought that external factors such as stress or lack of sleep. So coming back, people think that Epileptic patients are not normal and that they need special treatment. So for that, epileptic patients cannot be independent and have their self-identity, which brings down the self-esteem of an epileptic patient. Will anyone ever be able to tolerate epileptic people?Yeah, so coming to this, there are some people who do avoid epileptic patients as they feel that they might be responsible for their seizures. And thus, fear that the epileptic patient might get a seizure in front of them. And since they can't take the sight of seizures, and nobody can, they just start ostracising epileptic patients. I feel so hopelessEpileptic patients are bound to feel this way because they know that they have to live with medicines for life. And, especially for someone like me, my belief is that people who take more medication just shows that I can't take care of my health and that I am not capable of keeping a good track record on my health as a whole. You feel hopeless because it's like you have to take tablets to live a happy life. It's sad in that sense but we have to move on, suck it up and live with it. My boyfriend/girlfriend will leave me. (For those who have partners and are epileptic)Believe me or not, epilepsy tests your partner. How does the health condition test your partner? It shows how much they truly love you and how much they actually care for you and accept you as a person. According to an article from the Epilepsy Society UK, there are wider impacts on seizures on relationships. It being a shocking and traumatising experience for epileptic patients and people who witness seizures. But more than that, both parties will feel scared, shocked, will just break down and feel ashamed and scared to face the world. Another fear that will be added to this is about when the next seizure will come. So, coming back, if you and your partner have been in a private place, let's say, the bedroom or while you and your partner are having alone time and your partner gets a seizure, this can put the relationship to test. This will scar the partner who does not have epilepsy and might develop trauma in the non-epileptic partner. He/she will wonder on how he/she can talk to their partners with seizures and what to say to them without hurting their feelings. But however, if your partner chooses to leave you after finding out that you are an epileptic patient, then just move on and wait for someone better because one, it shows how much of s*** that person is and how superficial he/she is. And two, epileptic patients need and deserve as much care, love and support that a normal person receives. I can't let anyone see me getting seizures. As a person who has epilepsy, to hear from your friends that they have seen you getting seizures and what exactly happened, it sounds really scary, let me tell you this. As a highly visual person and hearing seizure stories and describing how I had my seizure and how I was shaking and lost my consciousness scared the s*** out of me and traumatises me. You just want to be there for your team mates, friends, family and everyone around you and just make sure that you are in perfect health condition. I need lots of tablets to prevent epilepsy.Of course, knowing that you are an epileptic patient, you are hoping that the given tablets and dosages will help reduce your chances of getting a seizure. Of course, having two deadly seizures where by luck, I was safe and survives without getting any brain condition or losing my eyesight, I am really scared right now of getting another seizure. For my case for instance, I am supposed to take 100MG of Lamotrigine a day. But after two deadly seizures, I am really scared of getting a third. I am so scared that I have started taking 200MG a day and my friend has scolded me for overdosing on my medicine. Of course, I am not only taking Lamotrigine, but I take antibiotics, three times a day, to prevent bacterial infection from my injuries. So, technically, I am supposed to take four tablets a day for now. However, I sometimes take 5 tablets a day just to be extra safe and so that I do not faint. Will stress tablets help my condition?Since occasionally, my seizures can be caused by stress, I do think to myself on whether I should start consuming stress tablets. I ask myself on what are the benefits of taking stress tablets and how it actually will help. I even ask myself on whether the stress tablets can reduce my seizure condition or not. I am so scared to go out!Yes, once we have this condition, not only do we develop the fear of getting another fatal seizure, but we are scared of going out because I mean... Seizures are unpredictable and they can happen any time. So, to be safe, we just want to stay in and sleep. I just want to sleep in and cry.Yes, as someone who got officially declared epileptic, after being discharged, there was not a single day where I did not cry. It was so hard for me to absorb this fact and it is so hard for me to actually comprehend and accept it. But then, there are people around you who will support you and love you endlessly and accept you for who you are and never discriminate against you and believe in you and have the confidence that you are as capable as people who do not have epilepsy. I just want to leave this world. But on the other hand, I want to live and see what life holds in store for me.Yeah, so when I found out that I am officially epileptic, which meant having to live on medicines for life, I lost my hope to live. People around me know how much I hate taking medicines and how I hate being sick and unhealthy. You would also know my conscious effort into turning into a lacto-ovo vegetarian gradually. Not just for animals and religion, but for my health and stamina as well. So yeah, as mentioned earlier, I would cry non-stop ever since I was discharged from the hospital. The first thing I would do in the day is cry, the last thing I would do before my day ends is cry. The first thing I would think to myself is ask myself whether I am mentally retarded or not. The last thing I would think would be the fact that I have to live on medicines for life is sickening. It makes me look mentally retarded and sick to people and I don't want to be seen as someone who is retarded and sick because I can function normally and there is no abnormality in my brain waves. But on the other hand, what drives me to live is my future dreams, my goals and the life that I desire to live. Nobody can drive me as much as much as what I want. My best friends make me realise that I should be fortunate that at least I survived, I am alive and that I am getting treatment. There are people out there who probably can't get treatment for epilepsy, which is really sad. But even then, American actor Cameron Boyce, died due to complications with his epilepsy condition. It also shows that I am lucky to have not died from my deadly seizures and that God has given me a chance to live constantly, which shows that he has given me a purpose and reason to live and be alive in this world. Yes, as an epileptic patient, after writing all these thoughts, I hope you understand what we think. It's not nice when we are treated like as if we can't do anything on our own. Because we can. We are human beings like you and we deserve the love, care and support that a non-epileptic person gets.
I want to thank those who accept me even though you know that I am epileptic and for caring for me and tolerating my b******* behaviour when I go berserk at times. Thank you for being confident in my work and believing that I am a perfectly normal and capable person. Thank you for instilling courage in me. I am feeling better emotionally from last week, although the situation is scarred in my life. It will take time for me to actually get over it because now that I have a scar on my face, I will now know that my face will never go back to normal and that it will take a lot of time for me to develop that confidence and to actually find that full hope to live and focus on my future. I am slowly getting on that path but this time, it will take a longer time. Maybe a month, a year, two or 10 years. The last time when I got my seizure and lost my teeth, I remembered locking myself in a room for two weeks and just crying because I knew and felt that people I would meet would laugh at me, judge me and ostracise me because of how I looked. I am past that as I am getting my teeth treated. Why it will probably take a longer time for me to recover is because I can get my teeth treated and it will go back to normal. But, once you have a scar on your face, your look will be affected for life. And knowing that I care about my looks a lot, my confidence has dipped and I do not know whether it will go back to the same level ever again. I do not know if I can feel beautiful ever again. If I do get back my confidence like how acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal got even though her face got disfigured, I would be really proud of myself. And seeing her love story and having a guy who accepted her with her disfigured face makes you think to yourself that there are still good people in this world and it may restore your hope to live, love and laugh. Normally, people would tell us to not exercise during that time of the month. However, it is actually false The thing is, we can actually exercise during that time of the month. However, we just need to be careful about the kind of exercise we do while we have our period. The kind of exercises you should do during your periodI would suggest do exercises which does not need you to do really vigorous movements. Vigorous movements during your periods could increase the blood flow during your menstrual time of the month and definitely your clothes will be stained. So, the exercises I would suggest for you to do would be:
Here, you do notice that it is a lot of cardio exercises that they are recommended during period. But notice that more than them being cardio exercises, they are low on intensity. Sure, you may not be as active as other days or whatsoever, but at least you are keeping yourself active. Exercises you should avoid during this time of the monthLike what I have mentioned earlier, you can exercise during your periods, but just go a little slow on the intensity. Avoid these type of exercises:
It is a myth that you can't exercise during this time of the month. You can, but go slow because your health is important as well.
