Australia, I would say, has amazing tit bits especially. Australian food is definitely high on sweets and non-vegetarian food, though I am sure that we can make vegetarian or vegan varieties of Australian food. What is the Internet there for? They will be able to provide vegan or vegetarian varieties of Australian food. About Australian FoodI would say that Australian food is like a mixture of sweet and savoury. Just nice to satisfy both sides of our taste buds. Australian food is perfect for those who would like to try new types of dishes, especially for meat lovers. Australia is high on steak and Barbecue sauce. Another thing that Australian cuisine is known for is Vegemite. Vegemite is like a symbol for Australian food. How the taste of Australian food is likeAs mentioned earlier, the food in Australia is all about the mixture between sweet and savoury. So, the thing I love about Australian food is that it offers a variety of dishes to cater to different taste buds. How to eat Australian food if you are a vegetarianAustralia has lots of vegetarian and vegan varieties. One thing you can do is search for different vegetarian and vegan restaurants in the city that you would be living in or travelling to. For instance, if you are travelling to or living in Melbourne by any chance, just search up for different vegetarian or vegan restaurants, depending on the diet that you follow.

Being half of a South Asian ethnically, I can tell you that as much as I love food from East Asia, especially Korean and Japanese food, I can tell you that you guys will fall in love with South Asian food, especially North Indian food! I am a sucker for Punjabi vegetarian food as I am someone who goes for taste. Like, for me, I need taste in my food. I can't eat the same, boring, bland dish all the time. And that is what I love about Punjabi food. Even if I have to eat it everyday, I will love it. Although I would reduce the amount of ghee in my food so as to reduce the fat levels in the food. About South Asia and the food thereIn South Asia, I would say that the food there is full of different types of taste to suit different taste buds. There is spicy, there is savoury, there is a buttery kind of taste as well and finally, some sweetness to satisfy our buds. South Asia has like at least 50 shades of Desi flavours to offer to South Asians and foreigners. How is the taste of food in South Asia likeAs mentioned earlier, there would be a variety of tastes that South Asia offers to foreigners. Food in South India definitely tastes different from food in North India. Food in Pakistan tastes different from food in North India. Food in Bangladesh would taste different from food in West Bengal, East India. Food in Sri Lanka would taste different from food in South India. So depending on the preference of your taste buds, you will have preference for one type of cuisine in South Asia over the other. How to eat South Asian food if you are a vegetarianIn South Asia, it is very easy to survive as a vegetarian! It may be tough if you are a vegan or ovo-vegetarian though. However, as a lacto-ovo vegetarian or a lacto-vegetarian, you will find so many dishes that you will love. In fact, if you are a cheese lover, you are going to love the food in North India.
For Vegans and ovo-vegetarians, the food in South India and maybe Sri Lanka will suit your taste buds more over there as the food there is not really milk-based. South Indians and Sri Lankans use a lot of coconut and rice in their food whereas North Indians and Pakistanis do use lots of milk and cream in their food. So, depending on the level of difficulty, it depends on how strict your diet is. The stricter you are, the tougher it is. Otherwise, it is very easy to survive as a vegetarian in South Asia Hey guys! After a long time, I have decided to start on a new cultural food series, where I can help you guys in gaining insights into different cultural and regional cuisines of the world on the surface for a start and for people who would like to try the cuisines, they can and should. However, if you do have certain dietary restrictions, such as not being able to consume beef or eel or pork or whatsoever, I will give tips at the end of the post on how you can enjoy the cuisine of your choice without going against your diet. About East Asia and the food thereSo, for today, I am touching on East Asia. Personally, I would say that food from East Asia is known for things like Kimchi, Sushi, Soup, Dumplings, Meat, Seafood. At least 80% of the consumers in East Asia are non-vegetarian. Around 10% of the population in East Asia are vegetarian, of which, around 10%-20% of the vegetarian population in East Asia are vegan. East Asia compromises of these countries/cities:
How is the taste of food in East Asia likeI would say that food in East Asia is definitely not as spicy as compared to food in South Asia. East Asian cuisine tends to have more herbal-like taste such as that of ginger. Ethnic East Asians are generally very health conscious and they believe in using natural ingredients for their health. For example, ginger tea helps to:
And there are so many benefits. Chinese people especially, do not often believe in taking tablets. If one is having bad menstrual cramps, they would rather take ginger tea over Panadol tablets. For Koreans, Plum extract juice helps in:
So, you will find Koreans also taking in natural herbal medicines like Plum Extract to improve their health conditions rather than tablets. How to eat East Asian food if you are a vegetarianI do understand that there are foodies who would love to try all types of food, despite having dietary restrictions.
With East Asian cuisines, these are my tips on how you can have them without going against your diet by consuming meat:
Now, when we talk about meditation, we always have the concept that meditation is all about sitting still and being in the moment. However, there are people like me, who can't sit still and who have a lot of energy stored inside their body. And then, active people like me would want to inculcate meditation into their lives. So, what is active meditation exactly? Active meditation is meditation, but with your body focused on a repetitive action while your mind is focused on completing the action. One needs 20 to 45 minutes to actively meditate. Perks of Active MeditationActive meditation helps in reconnecting your mind, body and spirit. It helps to keep you calm and grounded. Some active meditation activities can keep you in a sane state of mind and some can just take your consciousness state of mind to the next level. Types of Active Meditation ActivitiesYou could possibly consider inculcating these active meditation activities into your life:
I have seen people who are lonely and I have observed that they tend to brood a lot, rubbing off negative vibes onto other people. And trust me, I have experienced it and loneliness can definitely eat your brain and heart up. Coming to the main topic, how does loneliness kill you? Increases your risk in getting a heart diseaseHow does loneliness connect to getting a heart disease? Well, loneliness and depression is stated to increase the risk of one getting heart problems as loneliness increases your blood cholesterol level and high blood pressure, which can lead to a stroke. If one is lonely for too long a time, he or she can end up dying early. The risk for depression and anxiety increasesDefinitely being lonely causes one to become more depressed. As you stay alone for a longer time, you will start to think that nobody loves you and that you are alone in this world. The more you start to think this way, the more you will feel like a new day is just a normal day. You do not look forward to it and you just feel like going to bed 24/7. Coming to anxiety, I do not know about it... But one thing for sure is that you will become frustrated and sick of life. You will be like "What am I going to do the whole day?" and so many questioning thoughts just comes out. These frustrating thoughts can make someone go mad and psychotic. It can cause someone to commit suicideLoneliness does eventually lead someone to suicide though. Loneliness leads to suicide because after having thoughts of nobody loving them or them being alone in this world, they will not have any reason to live in the end, which makes them want to contemplate about suicide. They may even start finding ways on how to kill themselves. Some people are not gutsy and will just suffer being lonely but some people will be bold enough in finding ways of killing themselves. And by the way, this kind of bold attitude is wrong. We should be bold and courageous for the right thing, not for committing suicide. We should be bold in standing up for ourselves, standing up for others, doing the right thing. Ending your lives hurts your loved ones and your closest of friends. It doesn't bring them peace. AT. ALL. It can make someone crazy and frustratedLoneliness... If not leading someone to developing thoughts of suicide, can lead to someone becoming mad and frustrated with life. Other than thinking "I am sick of life" to themselves, they start going mad because they know they have nobody around them and they will think that the walls are their best friend. The moment they start thinking that walls are their best friends, they will start talking to walls and the more they do that, the more they will end up talking to walls even if there are people are in front of them. This basically leads to crazy behaviour, which can indicate frustration in one's life. To those suffering from loneliness, I want to give you big hugs and I pray that you will get out of depression and a bad phase of your life. Do not always wait for people to approach you. Be brave and make the initiative. There is nothing wrong in taking the initiative. It only shows that you value the relationship and that you value the person a lot.
Make new friends. Talk to new people. Explore. If not talk to anyone. At least go out and get some fresh air. When you are with your loved ones, do not do things that will push them away. Tell them that you love them. Tell them that you value them a lot and that you want them in your life. Express to them how you feel. Do not always wait for someone to tell you that you are loved, you are valued and that you are cherish. Remember what I am saying to you: You Are Loved. You Are Valued. You Are Cherished. There will be people around you, no matter what. It all boils down to how much effort you take to reach out to one person. It does not matter who puts in more effort into a relationship. What matters most is the happiness between two people. If the other party is genuinely happy and loves you, you know that he/she will reach out to you in the long run. Ok, I am sure there are people who love both Soy milk and Low Fat milk, aka Skim milk like I do. But however, I am also sure that there are people who also wonder on which milk is healthier. So, this is the purpose of this post. So, back to the topic. Which milk is healthier? Soy MilkSoy Milk suits those who:
Soy Milk is high on:
Skim MilkSkim Milk suits those who:
Skim Milk is high on:
Which is better?I would honestly say that both Soy Milk and Skim Milk have their own pros and cons. And depending on your needs, you should stick to that kind of milk, BUT, in moderation. Because too much Skim or Soy Milk can lead to health problems.
Those who know me really well, will know that I have a special fondness for West Bengal (Indian State in East India), Bengali fashion, Bengali festivals, Bengali people, the language... And just everything Bengali as a whole! The thing is, I just find West Bengal so colourful, culturally vibrant, strong and artistic. The fact that Bengalis are so artistic and well educated is what impresses me the most. I just feel like I want to be as intellectual and intelligent as them. Bengalis are no doubt, one of the most intelligent and well-read group of Indians we have. Diet in West BengalThere is one thing that Bengalis love when it comes to food. That is fish. For them, fish is like their life. Bengalis just can't live without fish. It is probably a must for them to have fish in almost every meal. Well maybe not every meal, but at least for cultural festivals, it is a must for them to eat fish and seafood. Since West Bengal is a hardcore non-vegetarian loving state, 98.55% of the population in West Bengal are non-vegetarians. For most Indian states, non-vegetarian during Hindu festivals, especially Navratri, is prohibited for the first nine days of the festival. And the fast from non-vegetarian food is broken during the 10th day of Navratri, which is also known as Dusshera. However, in West Bengal, people celebrate Navratri as Durga Puja and during the Durga Puja season, you will find that in West Bengal, Bengalis will be binging on meat because they treat Maa Durga as their family member and daughter who is coming home, and thus, believe that they should entertain and pamper her with a meaty feast. Are Bengalis slowly turning to vegetarianism?Sales of meat have drastically dropped after news of fresh meat in markets of West Bengal are being contaminated and mixed with meat that is not fresh. That contaminated meat is sold to customers, which causes them to puke at washrooms whenever they would eat red meat dishes like pork, beef or mutton. After the sales of meat have dropped in Bengal in 2018, people have started turning to Vegetarianism. However, they still include fish in their diet as Bengalis believe that fish has nutrients that can help improve the functions and energy of the brain. This is why Bengalis are very fond of fish, one. Two, West Bengal is a coastal state located in East India. So, they are bound to find an amazing amount of fish around the coast and state. If Bengalis were to ever become vegetarian, the least they would do is follow the Pescatarian diet. A Pescatarian diet is a diet that consists of fruits, vegetables, dairy, honey, seafood and eggs. Pescatarians do not consume red meat, poultry and fowl. If they have a stronger willpower, they will go the next level and leave seafood and survive on a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet. A lacto-ovo vegetarian diet is a diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, dairy, honey and eggs. Lacto-ovo vegetarians do not consume seafood, red meat, poultry and fowl. Take my suggestion, read up about the different types of vegetarian diets just for your general knowledge so that when you come across a Pollotarian or a Pescatarian, you will not question them. My vegetarian journey (Just to digress from the main post)I turned into a pescatarian in the past because I was watching a video of penguins fighting with each other while eating bacon. It was so disturbing because the face of the penguins were filled with blood. I had a nightmare a few days later and I got disturbed in my beauty sleep. After that, I told myself that I would never touch meat ever.
I was a Pescatarian for one year, one month and five days from November 2016 to December 2017. Then I went back to the non-vegetarian diet for some time as I was missing chicken in the past. And now, recently in May 2019, I have decided to slowly turn into a lacto-ovo vegetarian because of:
So, I've left red meat officially and I do not eat seafood or chicken every day for a start, which is what every person who is aiming on turning vegetarian should do for a start if they are serious about turning into a vegetarian full-time. So, I would say right now, at this moment, that I am a reducetarian, who is trying to turn into a lacto-ovo vegetarian. A reducetarian is a person who gradually reduces his/her non-vegetarian consumption, eventually turning into a vegetarian in the long run. 24th December marks the event of Christmas eve and this would mean feasting on different dishes. Whether it is veg or non-veg. But today, I am going to write something very disturbing, which will probably disturb your minds. After knowing this fact, as much as I am relieved that I have left red meat, I am still disgusted with the fact that I would binge on red meat at least. So, I was watching Patriot Act, the first episode of the second volume called "Censorship in China" and before the show's anchor Hasan Minhaj, got into the main details of the show, he showed us that in Saudi Arabia, cooking shows which show how pork is cooked in foreign countries is considered "haram" in the Islam religion because Pork is not allowed to be consumed in the Islam religion. But still, the country airs such cooking shows. Do you know that most of the 1.5 billion pigs who are slaughtered for human consumption, do not get to live on spacious farmland? So yeah, most pigs have to live in crammed spaces and what happens there? Then, pigs get transported and slaughtered for human consumption. One who consumes too much pork will gain weight at the hips area as pork contains a lot of saturated fats. Pork also increases one's chances of developing deadly diseases. Researchers have shown that vegetarians are 50% less likely to develop heart disease and that they have 40% of the cancer rate that meat eaters have. Do you know that a typical slaughterhouse kills up to 1.1K pigs per hour just to feed us? They are killed through ruthless means and they face an inhuman death. They do not die peacefully, which is really sad actually. By the time pigs get sent to slaughterhouses, 70% of them have developed pneumonia by then. They develop pneumonia due to poor ventilation, filth in factory farms and crowded conditions. My point is, would you really want to eat pork and red meat after knowing the dirty truth behind it? I would not want to at least.
There are so many ways that you can feast during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We just need to find different alternatives to enjoy our Christmas without hurting animals. I am glad that I have taken the decision to turn vegetarian in the long run. For someone to become meatless, it takes about two to three years to transit to a vegetarian from being a non-vegetarian. Nowadays, we hear incidents like shootouts or the Kashmir conflict or the American troop fighting ISIS from Iraq and so on... This definitely makes our world a more dangerous place to live in. We also can't say that kids in shootouts will be the only ones that are mentally affected. Kids who witness domestic violence or violence in school such as being bullied by seniors or classmates physically will definitely be affected mentally. Parents who bully their kids through verbal abuse such as calling their kids "Bastard" or saying "I'll slit your throat" or "I'll punch you in the face" will definitely be affected mentally. Parents who physically abuse their children such as strangling them to death or whipping them with a steel rod that is hot in temperature or a belt are definitely abusers and do not deserve to have children. How is it that kids experiencing physical or verbal violence are affected? They will definitely be affected in so many ways. Here are ways in how children are affected:
How to avoid physical or verbal violence: Avoid showing NC16 (16 and above only) Films & A (18/21 and above only) Rated Films to kidsFirst up, I would say that children are not at the age where they will understand that violence in films are fictional. Only teens who are 18/16 (For kids with a great sense of maturity in their behaviour) and above will understand that violence in films are fictional and that the person beaten up survives. If a 12-year-old were to see such violence in films, they might think that it is real and that the person was brutally beaten up and died in real life. So, I would recommend not showing kids films with violence/drugs/sex/crude language/mature storylines/nudity etc etc or there could be some disturbing scenes that can affect kids mentally such as that of Mardaani 2 (Upcoming 2019 Hindi Film) or Mom (2017 Hindi Film, but not as bad as Mardaani 2). Showing them these sort of films for their age will definitely affect their mental growth. If you were to show a Kabir Singh (2019 Hindi Film) to your kids, I would recommend you not to because lots of crude language is present in the film and even though the storyline of the film is like the modern version of Devdas (2002 Hindi Film), there is just drugs and alcohol consumption done beyond the limit. Devdas was mild. It is nothing compared to Kabir Singh. How to avoid physical or verbal violence: Never slap your kids or belt them or even try to strangle themI know that it is a natural tendency for parents to slap their kids when they do something wrong. However, I would still not recommend that because even if a child makes a mistake, parents should correct them with lots of love and guidance. They should be there for their kids. Be there for your kids, but still, do not pamper them and tell them that whatever they are doing is right. Be honest and tell them where they are wrong and why it is wrong. If your child has done something really really wrong that can put his/her family to shame or betray the trust of his/her parents and family or misbehaving with someone, then there is a reason to slap the child. (Kids would prefer to be corrected with love though. And if you think of slapping kids, do not dare slap a child below 16. A 16-year-old will understand that he/she is wrong and that he/she deserves the slap when he/she is wrong because they know that their parents love them and is just taking them away from the wrong path.) BUT, NEVER SLAP YOUR CHILDREN SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU LIKE TO DO IT OR YOU FEEL LIKE IT. But just simply strangling your child just because he/she wants to follow their dreams and if they fight for their dreams, there is nothing wrong in that. They would want the support of their parents when it comes to their future, not their abuses and punches. Especially abusing a 6-year-old child is too much. How to avoid physical or verbal violence: Do not call disgusting names to your kidsIf you think swearing at your kids or using crude language with them will make them understand that you love them, you are wrong. Using crude or vulgar sentences like "I'll slit your throat" or "I'll burn your face in fire" or "I'll slap you in front of everyone" is just so not done. Children will become scared of you and start to hate you. Or calling them names like "Bastard" or "Useless" or "Disgraceful" definitely makes them hate you even more because it shows that you do not trust them or that you do not have any faith in them. How to avoid physical or verbal violence: Do not abuse your spouse, physically or verbally, AT ALL!Domestic violence definitely has an impact on kids, in negative light. They:
