Honour Killing exists in India, even in today's times. Primarily, it exists in non-urban areas of India. Where people can't fall in love with someone who is not from their caste, culture or even faith. Youngsters in less urban areas get killed just because they have fallen in love with someone out of their caste or faith or culture. Dhadak is a remake of 2016 Marathi film Sairat. So the plots are bound to be similar. This film stars Ishaan Khatter and debutant Janhvi Kapoor, the daughter of late Sridevi Boney Kapoor. Along with Kharaj Mukherjee, Ashutosh Rana, Shubhavi Choksey, Shridhar Watsar, Ankit Bisht, Manish Singh Verma, Shalini Kapoor, Godaan Kumar, Aishwarya Narkar and Govind Pandey in supporting roles. Now, Ishaan's acting is fantabulous! I just loved how he played the role of a bright student, who comes from a middle-class family in Udaipur, a city in Rajasthan, West India and who deeply loves a girl from an upper class family and will do anything for their love. Now, as much as Janhvi is gorgeous and that she has an attractive voice, I was not as impressed with her acting skills as much as I was with Ishaan's acting skills. She was probably selected for the film because of Nepotism, like Ishaan. Though Ishaan acts much better than she does. (I do need to watch Beyond the Clouds that features Ishaan as the main protagonist though!) Coming to the supporting roles, I loved how Ashutosh Rana played the role of a hotel owner, who strives to gain power through politics, to rule a city and is a selfish father, who would do anything to gain power and fame, even if it means treating his daughter in an abusive manner. He has perfectly portrayed the role of a cruel and ruthless father really well. The idea of using Regional Indian film actors like Kharaj Mukherjee, an actor in Indian Bengali Cinema and Hindi television actors like Shubhavi Choksey, who has garnered fame from one of the most popular Hindi television shows, Bade Acche Lagte Hain, and Shalini Kapoor, who has gained fame from the Hindi show Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev, helping to open up doors to actors and actresses from non-Hindi cinema and Hindi television shows, which also means that opportunities would be given to other people and not just star kids. This also helps to widen the horizons of the audience, showing that Indians do not only speak Hindi, but there are other languages that they speak. The other supporting actors, Ankit Bisht, Aishwarya Narkar, Manish Singh Verma, Shridhar Watsar... Have all done a good job to their roles. They have also added to the film's drama. Now, coming to the music, I went "meh" with the songs because they did not impress me that much. Though my favourite song is the title song, that was picturised on Ishaan and Janhvi and how their love story blooms slowly, overcoming the caste system. I will admit one thing though. This film did not do that much of justice to the original film, which was the Marathi version of course. I will state down why:
Which leads me to asking some questions in the film's script:
There are just so many questions to the remake of Sairat that makes me wonder... Why? Although I am glad they have highlighted the issue of Honour Killing, that still happens in rural India or the less advanced cities. Should I watch it?
Yes. However, if you have watched the Marathi version, you will realize that this was not as addictive as the original, which is the Marathi one. So, I would say that it is a one-time watch. Although Ishaan's performance is amazing! Who is it suited for? It is suited for: - People aged 13 to 55 - People who want to see the dark side of India - People who love the thrill in a romance film

Ok, so this one of the newest Malayalam films that I have watched last December. I loved it but I also did not like it. Uncle is a 2018 Malayalam Drama Thriller film, which revolves around two major characters, Sruthi Vijayan (Portrayed by Karthika Muralidharan) and Krishnakumar aka KK (Portrayed by Mammootty). Uncle talks about the car trip that KK and Sruthi shares from Ooty, a town in the South Indian state Tamil Nadu to Kozhikode, which is also a town in another South Indian state Kerala. During that trip, KK and Sruthi face difficulties from different people and it shows how both KK and Sruthi tackle the obstacles that come in their way. Now, Malayalam films are often known for having an amazing story line, whether the film's genre is romance or comedy or even thrillers. Malayalam films are also known for their sense of realism. This film is set realistically and we are able to relate to the characters. Karthika has executed the role of a minor student heading back home from her college really well. In fact, I think she has improved in her performance in this film from that of Comrade in America (2017 Malayalam Film). I would honestly remember her in this film rather than her debut film with Dulquer Salmaan, also because she looks better in this film than in her first film, where she looked sick. Sick in the sense where she looked pale and dull, at least, in my opinion. She has executed properly how a student would feel, think and behave. The doubts, the fears, the curiosity is what a student has. Mammootty, on the other hand, never disappoints. His character is a businessman, and an uncle to Karthika's character, who is loving, yet protective of her. In this film, you would not see Mammootty, but an uncle. Since he is really good friends with Karthika's father in the film, who is portrayed by Joy Mathew, Mammootty makes sure that Karthika reaches home safely so as to not keep her parents worried. Coming to the supporting actors, Joy Mathew and Muthumani have perfectly shown the thoughts and feelings of a parent when their daughter is in a place where riots happened at that point of time. They wonder whether their child is safe or not, where is she at that point of time and if anyone has hurt her. I believe that Uncle has shown one really good message though. And that is, when a man and a woman hang out together alone, it does not necessarily mean that they are dating. Old-fashioned people think that a guy and a girl hanging out means that they are dating. Well, we are in the 21st century, and people think differently now. A girl having tons of guy friends does not mean that she is a slut. A guy having tons of female friends does not mean that he is a womanizer. It all comes down to one's body language and behaviour. Being friendly and intimate are two different things. And definitely the behaviour and body language of being friendly and intimate are really different from each other. Coming to the music, there is only one song, but that song was really relevant to the film. It was beautifully sung by Shreya Ghoshal because the music composer, Bijibal, brought out the best in her. In fact, this movie did not need songs. Although I have one problem with this film... It takes 145 minutes to get to the main message. I was confused about the whole plot and everything. When I found out about the main message at the end of the film, I was thinking "Did it take so long to send out the main message?". The film's content and concept is amazing! However, I did feel that this could have been a short film, which lasted for 30 to 45 minutes maximum. Besides, how long does it take to drive from Ooty to Kozhikode? Not too long. It would take about four to eight hours at the most. Should I watch it?
Uhhh... If you can stand long draggy films. I would say yes, but it is however, a one-time watch. Do not watch it the second time. Who is it suited for? It is suited for: Everyone ranging from 12 to 60 or maybe older. The main message of the film needs to get into people's head that a guy and a girl hanging out does not mean that they are dating! Rape is one of the most prominent crimes, which reduces the country's safety level. In fact, the number of rapes happening in the country is increasing. Most females choose not to report the incident only because they are afraid of being judged by people in the society. Puthiya Niyamam is a 2016 Malayalam Film that touches on the topic of rape and how women just remain mum only because they are scared of their spouses leaving them. This film revolves around a Tamilian housewife who is also a Kathakali dancer named Vasuki Iyer Louis (Portrayed by Nayanthara). She is married to Louis Pothen (Portrayed by Mammootty), who is a divorce lawyer. They both have a daughter named Chintha (Portrayed by Baby Ananya). One day, when Louis and Chintha went to visit Louis's family, Vasuki happens to be raped by 3 men, Aryan (Portrayed by Roshan Mathew), Sudeep (Portrayed by Anil K Reji) and a Tamil Native Pacha Basmam (Portrayed by Sendrayan). This film later shows how Vasuki gets her revenge from the three men who raped her and how she went back to her normal self and the emotional struggles she went through. Personally, I do not watch South Indian films often. However, it is the love for the state Kerala and the language Malayalam, that pushes me to watch South Indian films. Primarily, the South Indian film industries I follow would be the Telugu and Malayalam film industry. So coming back, Puthiya Niyamam is one of my first few South Indian films that I have watched in my life. Having admired Nayanthara's beauty, I admired her even more for her talent. She has portrayed the role of a housewife so well that sometimes, you feel that she is one as well. What I mean by she is one is that Nayanthara has gotten into the character so well that sometimes, you will forget that it is Nayanthara who is featuring in the movie and that rather, you are seeing a real life story. Coming to Mammootty... Ok, so this was the first film of his that I have watched in my life. I have heard about him through one of the Bollywood magazines that I have read in my early teens and his name was mentioned in the Celebrity Cricket League article that I read and that he was part of the Malayalam film industry, which is based in Kerala, South India. So, as I was watching this film, I happened to see Mammootty and I was already impressed with how chilled and liberated he was on screen! I love that Mammootty actually lets loose and just stays relaxed while acting but at the same time, getting into the shade of the character that he portrays and expressing those emotions perfectly, like how a husband would actually feel. Coming to the supporting actors, Roshan, Anil and Sendrayan. Roshan is definitely the most notable badass pervert in this film as his character was the main person who wanted to have 'Hot and Sweet Memories' with Nayanthara in the film before travelling to Goa for a film festival with Anil's character. For the beginning of his career, Roshan has done so much justice to his character, got into the shade so well that I ended up thinking that his character is such a pervert and a sick guy basically. That was what the audience is supposed to think of his character and he made me think that way at least. Roshan is definitely Kerala's future pride and will eventually become India's pride. But yes, Anil and Sendrayan have also done justice to their character's scope, although I have nothing much to comment as their characters were not as prominent as that of Roshan's in the negative side of the characters. Since this film touches on a issue that happens every day in India, there will not be much music. Except, there was one song that plays at the scene where Nayanthara prays at the temple in her black saree, which comes in the middle of the film. To be frank, I did not like that song and felt that this film actually did not need even one song. Background music would have been better for that scene instead of breaking into a song right after Nayanthara finishes praying. This film may be a fictional film. However, it touches on a serious issue like rape, that happens every single day in India. Whether it happens in New Delhi (North India) or Kerala (South India) or Kolkata (East India) or even Mumbai (West India), it still happens in India! These places make up India. Women in India who get rapes have to keep mum about the incident or else people in the society will judge them and think "Oh, she is a ****. She allows men to touch her." When in fact, she did not want anyone to touch her inappropriately and those guys forced themselves on her. In addition to what is mentioned above, the number of rapes are increasing in India. The country is becoming more dangerous for women to live in because the police does not take action. More often than not, rapists get away with their crime. Sometimes, there is no point allowing the law to handle the problem as it might never be solved. I am glad that Indian films generally, are slowly starting to touch on real issues that need to be addressed, except for Bollywood. One thing Bollywood needs to learn from the Malayalam film industry is to learn how to develop better scripts and come up with creative storylines and go beyond the boy loves girl kind of story. Should I watch it?
You have to. Rape is a serious issue and everyone has to stop judging a rape victim and learn about how serious rape can be and what it can do to a woman's mental health. This film can be found under the Malayalam film section on the website einthusan.tv Who is it suited for? It is suited for: - People aged 12 and above - Families - Anyone who is willing to watch a good Regional Indian Film If men are bad human beings, then women are too. Trust me, after watching this film, I have learnt that women are no different from men, in our own way. Men are just physically abusive to women. But women? Women can play with the emotions of a guy, eventually hurting them emotionally, which can be an emotional scar to a man's life and maybe, make him a more bad person. It takes two to tango together. Based on 1944 American Noir film Double Indemnity, Jism is a 2003 film that talks about an alcoholic lawyer based in Pondicherry, a small town in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Kabir Lal (portrayed by John Abraham), who sees Sonia Khanna (portrayed by Bipasha Basu Singh Grover), the wife of a travelling millionare, Rohit Khanna (portrayed by Gulshan Grover) and falls in love with her at the first sight. They got into an affair as time passed by and Kabir starts to fall in love with Sonia, passionately. Sonia has told Kabir that she feels lonely as her husband travels often. However, she can't leave Rohit as she wouldn't be able to sustain herself financially. Thus, Sonia suggested to murder Rohit. Blinded by lust and passion, Kabir agrees to it. They killed Rohit successfully, which looks like an accident. However, Kabir ended up seeing the other side of Sonia, where she reveals that all she wanted was money and nothing else and that she used Kabir for her own selfish needs. Kabir decided to confess his crimes to Vishal (Portrayed by Ranvir Shorey) and Siddharth (Portrayed by Vinay Pathak) and Sonia shoots him. Both Kabir and Sonia share their last passionate kiss. While sharing their kiss, it is revealed that Kabir has the gun and shoots Sonia, eventually admitting that she did love Kabir. As Sonia dies, Kabir calls Vishal and Siddharth to the beach, confessing all his crimes. Kabir looks at the sun and smokes one last time before he dies at dawn. This film marks the start of John's career. I loved his acting in this film. He has portrayed the role of a passionate lawyer, who is a smoker and an alcoholic very well. I feel that his character is very relatable to some people in real life at least. Next comes in Bipasha Basu. This has to be one of my most favourite performances in Bipasha's career. She has portrayed the role of a femme fatale perfectly! In fact, I think that she has the charm that a stunning vamp needs and that she should actually play more of such roles in her career. Frankly speaking, I prefer Bipasha in her modern avatars. Although she has played the role of a female lead and a positive character well, Bipasha is better off with her negative role performances. They are more addictive than her positive ones. The supporting actors, Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Anahita Uberoi and Gulshan Grover, have given the charm to their roles and their performances were commendable. However, I do think that the people who have mostly made the film beautiful were the leads, Bipasha Basu and John Abraham, only because their performances were so addictive that you can watch it again and again. Now, I will say that this instalment of the Jism series is much better than the second instalment, Jism 2, which released in 2012, starring Randeep Hooda, Sunny Leone and Arunoday Singh in lead roles of the second instalment. I didn't find the second instalment as addictive as the first one (I will write about Jism 2 next week). In addition to this film being John Abraham's first film in his Bollywood career, this was also the film that brought Bipasha and John so close that they had an affair from 2002/2003 until they have decided to split in 2011. Coming to the music, I am madly in love with the songs, AND Shreya Ghoshal's voice. The success of the music of this film has to go to Shreya Ghoshal. One of her most successful songs in her career would be the song Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai. And currently, I am hooked to the tune and lyrics of the song because it is very addictive. Although, the 2013 version of the same song, again sung by Shreya Ghoshal, is what got me addicted to Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai and that makes me go back to the 2003 version again and again. Shreya basically played Bipasha Basu's voice in the film. Even though she started her career in 2002 with the songs from Devdas, playing Aishwarya Rai's voice in the film, she had a decent start with classical Bengali-themed songs in a Hindi film. I did feel that M.M.Kreem, the music director for the first instalment of Jism, brought the urban side of Shreya Ghoshal's voice out, showing that Shreya Ghoshal is a versatile singer despite having a light and very sweet voice. KK's voice is another voice that has to be given credit for the success of this film. His song, Awarapan Banjarapan, is something that people can empathise with, especially the first version of the song. The first version of the song, which plays as the introduction song, showing how John Abraham feels at the start as the introduction credits roll in. So, coming back, the first version of the song talks about the feelings of a lover and how love destroys him. The second version, which plays in the middle, where John leaves Bipasha's house as Gulshan has come back from his work travels, it talks about how John Abraham's character wants to control his own destiny and make Bipasha's character his for life. The third version of the song, which plays at the end of the film, where John smokes his last cigarette, takes his last glimpse at the sun and slowly dies and his friends, Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey's characters, break down into tears, grieving over the death of John Abraham's character. Jism is an erotic thriller. However, more than an erotic thriller, there was a lot of passion and emotion shown in this film. It is so deep that you would just be engaged in the film. The romance, the platonic love, the anger, hunger, revenge... All the needed emotions were shown deeply and that's what got me deeply focused in the film. But beyond the steamy affair Bipasha and John shared, I have learnt a lot of things from this film, which I will show in the next paragraph after the next photo. One, I have learnt that women are no different from men. Different in the sense that if men are known to be abusive physically to women or rapists, then women are also bad in their own way. Women are definitely not physically abusive, but women can be really cunning and play with a guy's emotions. This film has changed my views on gender equality and changed the way I think. This film has made me support every human being equally in the sense that I will not support a girl over a guy just because I'm a feminist or that I will support a guy over a girl just because I hang out with guys more often. I will support either a guy or a girl, depending on the situation AND who is right at that point of time. I do not and will never support anyone based on gender. I believe that when we follow what is morally right and apply it in every situation, we are actually making the world a more fair and safer place for people to live in. This film has also taught me that there are two types of women. One, those who are ambitious in an independent way and two, those who will use other people for their goals and throw those people away once they have reached their goals. Ladies, please be the first type. Be ambitious, get the support and guidance of people. But, never take them for granted and use them for your own needs. You never know when your people will leave you. The third lesson? Well, there are men who are just bad because it is in their nature and there are those who become bad with a reason. The ones who become bad with a reason are actually emotional men who can be passionate and committed lovers to their women. However, there are such selfish women out there who can play with the feelings of any guy. Even to the extent of knowing that one guy is madly in love with her and will use that love for her own benefit. It's ok to reject the guy's love directly if you do not have feelings. But, do not play with his feelings or his bad side will come out. Same thing for men. Do not go and play with a girl's feelings as well. It is natural for someone's bad side to come out when they are deeply hurt. I felt bad for John Abraham in the film because he was madly in love with Bipasha Basu and when he found out that she was using him for her goals, he just shot her at her body and she died. In fact, I even cried at the end of the film for John because he died a painful death. Vinay and Ranvir losing their friend in the morning was something that made me cry literally. I am an emotional person and will cry when a form of love touches my heart. Should I watch it?
Obviously! It is so addictive! Who is it suited for? It is suited for: - People aged 18 to 37 - Emotional and passionate people - Couples Finally a Bollywood film after a long time! I had to watch Sanju as I heard that it was one of the best Indian films of 2018. So, I took everyone's word for it and watched the film online. The mega film features Ranbir Kapoor as the main lead, who was essayed the role of Sanjay Dutt, along with Sonam Kapoor, Jim Sarbh, Anushka Sharma, Paresh Rawal and Vicky Kaushal, who essayed supporting roles as those who were part of Sanjay's life. I was stunned while watching this film! I was thinking to myself, "Am I actually seeing Sanjay Dutt or is that Ranbir Kapoor?" Ranbir played the role of Sanjay Dutt so well that I have forgotten that I'm watching Ranbir Kapoor. Anyone who gets into the shade of their assigned character so well has proven to the audience that they have the X factor in acting. Another instance where an actor has gotten into the shade of their character really well would be Vidya Balan for The Dirty Picture (2011 Bollywood Film). In that film, it felt like Vidya was not Vidya Balan, but she was Silk. The supporting actors did really well on their part. However, I felt that Vicky Kaushal and Sonam Kapoor were the ones who have really done justice to their roles. Coming to the direction, I love that the director, Rajkumar Hirani, has kept everything as authentic as possible. He made it feel like we are actually watching Sanjay Dutt's life. In fact, I think a lot of effort has been made such as doing tons of research on his life and asking people close to him more about Sanjay Dutt such as his wife, his best friends, his former love and many others. When it comes to the music, my favourite song was "Kar Har Maidaan Fateh", which was sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. Frankly speaking, I was not really impressed with most of the songs. I wanted something melodious, I was expecting something better. But, the movie made up for it. Overall the film was a really pleasant watch. I think this film has taught us what really goes on in a celebrity's life. Life is not a bed of roses even for those who are the son or daughter of a celebrity. Sometimes, gossips are made about them or even due to jealousy, people would make rumours about a famous celebrity. So many things just goes on in a celebrity's life. Should I watch it?
I will say yes a million times! You have to witness Ranbir Kapoor's greatness and the entire cast as a whole! You have to appreciate the efforts to make this beautiful movie! Who is it suited for? It is suited for: - People aged 16 and above. - Anyone who is interested in actually knowing Sanjay Dutt's life story. - Rajkumar Hirani fans. Now, Zayn Malik is no stranger to us. He is a South Asian stud for his International and British fans. Known for his deep voice, Zayn has charmed us with his latest single 'Fingers', 'Still Got Time' and 'Too Much'. And even recently, he has released a cover of Bollywood song 'Allah Duhai Hai' from 2018 Bollywood film Race 3 and fans have been melting over his voice in this song and the power that he projects while singing this dynamic song. Now, this song is not new to South Asian fans. 'Allah Duhai Hai' especially, is a popular song with Indian fans as it is Salman Khan's song. I am first going to write about the original version. So, the original version was sung by Amit Mishra, Sreerama Chandra, Jonita Gandhi and Indian-American rapper Raja Kumari. Now, what I like about this song was the bass. The bass is really dynamic and it can get people grooving to the song. The second thing is Jonita Gandhi. Even though she had a small part in the song, she gave her all. Her voice was really powerful in this song and that was my most favourite part of the song in fact. She always nails whatever she sings. Honestly, the song was fine. One thing I did hate is the rapping. It is so unnecessary, first of all. Secondly, the rapper's voice is so annoying. I wonder if I am the only one who cannot stand the rapping. Now, let me come to the Zayn Malik version. Let's be frank, I definitely prefer Zayn's version of the song compared to the original. And he should really consider doing playback singing in Bollywood! Initially, I did find his voice slightly unstable at the beginning. However, as the song goes on, his voice becomes more stable, including the pitching, and definitely grows into a more powerful voice. But, what I liked the most was his creative improvisations. And the fact that he has removed the rap, which makes the song much more pleasant to listen to. Guys, if you want to hear his cover, click on the YouTube video below to hear the full cover! Normally, when we are on a trip with our friends, we would just go, have fun, enjoy the local delicacies of another place, party, shop and visit the tourist spots of that country and come back home. Be it for a business trip or a holiday, we always take the opportunity to enjoy a new place. Ibiza is a 2018 American romantic comedy film. The film talks about three girls: Harper (Portrayed by Gillian Jacobs), Nikki (Portrayed by Vanessa Bayer) and Leah (Portrayed by Phoebe Robinson). Harper was assigned to go for a business trip to Barcelona, Spain to seal a deal. Nikki and Leah decided to tag along with Harper to Barcelona, thus ditching their work. Never did Harper know that she would fall in love with one of the hottest DJs, Leo West (Portrayed by Richard Madden). I love that films nowadays, are starting to emphasize on friendship and fun. But what I love about this film would be the fact that it shows that even on a trip, anything can happen. You may not want to fall in love or you may not even expect to. But however, this film shows that love comes in uninvited and that for long distance relationships, it actually takes a lot of effort to maintain them. Gillian and Richard have literally portrayed what a long distance relationship is like actually. Wanting to see your partner again, missing them, making the effort to contact each other, going through past photos and all that. To be frank, I would suggest to not go for a long distance relationships as they are hard to maintain and that you can't keep on being sad that you won't be seeing your partner that often. But, what I like about long distance relationships is that they teach you patience and perseverance. Patience because you will learn to wait. Perseverance because it is not easy being away from your partner. If you can commit to him during that time even, kudos to you! The supporting actors, Vanessa and Phoebe, have done an excellent job in their respective roles! The fact that Nikki actually acted as Harper around the last few scenes of the film, to save Harper from being fired, actually shows what true friends actually do for each other. Plus, your true friends are not 20 people who are your good friends. But two to four people who knows you really well. This movie has also shown us that we can even plan a trip to Spain for our holiday as well! Especially it would be best to visit Spain during the summer! However, I did feel that the film got a little bit boring towards the end when Harper was with Leo in the hot tub... I was like "What is going to happen with them? Can the film just fast forward?" and so many thoughts were running on my mind. This is the one thing that I did not like about this film. sometimes, I found it a little draggy, which makes us lose our attention span. But overall, it was a nice film :) Should I watch it?
YES! However, just watch it once or twice. People with low attention span will get bored easily, especially if some scenes are pretty draggy. Who is it suited for? It is suited for: - People aged 18 to 37 - Feminists - Anyone who plans on travelling but has no idea where to go Now, when we hear “Little Things”, we would think that the series is all about little kids and toys and all that nonsense. But actually, it’s not about childish things. Little Things talks about an urban couple, Dhruv (Portrayed by Dhruv Sehgal), a guy who has shifted to Mumbai from Delhi and Kavya (Portrayed by Mithali Palkar), a Maharashtrian girl who is from Mumbai herself. Both Dhruv and Kavya are in a live-in relationship and have been pretty serious about each other over more than two years. What I love about Desi Netflix shows and films in general is that they are much more entertaining in general than big-budget Bollywood films. Which is what Little Things has shown. Dhruv Sehgal and Mithali Palkar as leads have done total justice to the main characters. Whenever I just see the leads, it just feels like I am seeing Dhruv and Kavya. I do not think of the actors whenever I see the series on Netflix. I just feel like I am seeing the characters and like I am seeing real life. I love the lessons that the series has provided to us on how small things like Biryani or Mutton cutlet actually satisfies our soul more than the materialistic things like money or a bungalow. Yes, the series has taught that love is unconditional and that relationships are not always perfect. It has also shown that a couple will always have different point of views. I relate to someone like Kavya a lot. She is ambitious, caring, nurturing, open-minded, educated and diligent. However, Kavya stresses out easily, gets angry easily and is a perfectionist. Kavya is a fashionista and presents herself well. She loves food and is an adventurous lady out there! However, one difference though. I cannot date somebody like Dhruv. Even though Dhruv is a loving boy, I feel that he is very mediocre, ambitionless, he is too much of living in the moment, irresponsible and does not keep people updated on important situations. Also, I would like to say thank you to the scriptwriters and the entire crew department that was in charge of bringing out the best out of the leads. And, to let me know myself better. Even though I do not believe that I will get a partner, I have a slightly better idea on the kind of person that I want as my partner. Should I watch it?
YES FROM MY SIDE! You get to learn about how relationships are in general and you will at least know the kind of person you want in bits and pieces :) Who is it suited for? It is suited for: - People aged 16 to 35 - People who are wanting to know themselves better and what they want - Anyone who wants to know how a slice of life series is like Films like these are hardly made and I am glad that this film was shot and released. We need films that help to boost one’s self-esteem and to let us be able to love ourselves more. However, did people get that message really? Sierra Burgess is a Loser is a 2018 American Netflix film which talks about this plus sized girl named Sierra Burgess, who is a loser in her high school, got misunderstood as the most popular girl in high school when Veronica, the most popular girl in the school, gives off Sierra's number to Jamey, who has a crush on Veronica. From then onwards, both Sierra and Veronica team up together to win over their crushes. Frankly speaking, I did like the talents in this film. Noah was lit, as usual. Shannon has definitely done justice to the character of Sierra. Not just for the physique, but that personality has been executed really well. RJ Cyler and Kristine Froseth have done justice to the supporting roles. And the recurring cast, they have really contributed just as much as the main cast did. I like that American films now are including more non-white actors in their films, which helps to show America's diversity as a country, ethnically that is. I love that Shannon was so comfortable in her own skin and that she just liberates herself on screen. She has just shown us the struggles that a plus size girl like me would face every day. The body shaming that a girl like Sierra has to go through every day hurts. The fact that Sierra can still smile and walk in to class like it's a brand new day, makes every plus sized girl want to love themselves more and become more confident. America's teen films are generally very relatable to our life experiences and that's what I loved about this film. It is so relatable that I could go on watching it. So, what I loved about the film other than the cast, the diversity of ethnicities shown in the film and the realism of this topic would be so real that we can just watch it and say, "OMG! I can so relate to this!" However, I did feel that some messages were sent out wrongly. For example, we see Sierra looking at herself in the mirror and saying positive things like "I love myself". But then, on the other hand, she cribs about her body. She cribs about not being beautiful enough. Then I was just thinking to myself, "I crib about my body too. But, why I can still make an attempt to love myself every day would be because of the fact that I want to make a change to how I look. I don't want to keep on cribbing about myself because actually I can change that." So, my point is, loving yourself is not about just accepting your current state. Loving yourself can also be that you want to make a change to yourself to bring in a new you. Loving yourself is also about caring for your health and body. Loving yourself is about saying: "I don't want to crib and I want to make a change to improve my life!" I was body shamed by both boys and girls and I could understand how Sierra felt about her body at times, which was and maybe is how I feel about my own body at times. But thing is, I don't like how the film shows Sierra doing nothing about her body when she has times she cribs about not being beautiful or gorgeous and all of that. But, nobody notices that people like Veronica suffer as much as Sierra does. People like Veronica get skinny-shamed every day. They have to put in so much effort to look good just to be popular or to get loads of male attention, or whatever their purpose is. Now, this message was executed properly. I just feel that there were so many things that have to be said through the characters in the film that some messages make us confused. The planning of the script can be improved for sure, and this is my opinion entirely. What I would tell people would be that if you want to love yourself and be happy with yourself, do accept yourself the way you are. However, take care of your health and keep fit. Do the things that make you happy. Mix with people that make you smile and who have always been there for you. There are consequences to everything and almost anything though, so we have to be prepared for it and stay strong in this cruel world so that we can spread kindness. Should I watch it?
Definitely! I think this is a film that every teenager needs to watch so that they can come to peace with themselves. Who is it suited for? It is suited for: - Youngsters aged 12 to 22 - People who want to come to peace with themselves and find the motivation to love themselves for the way they are - Teen film lovers Life in Mumbai is going to be a bliss! Is it? Well... If you are rich, it will be. Life in Mumbai is not easy for Mumbaikars (Denonym for people born and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India). Love Per Square Foot is a 2018 Netflix Bollywood Film, which talks about two people, Sanjay Chaturvedi (Portrayed by Vicky Kaushal) and Karina D'Souza (Portrayed by Angira Dhar), who actually do not earn enough individually in their own jobs. Both Sanjay and Karina dream of having their own apartment in Mumbai and thus, both of them married each other just to have an apartment of their own. However, as time passes by, they start to develop feelings for each other and the film takes us through the emotional obstacles they face to come emotionally closer to each other and take their marriage beyond convenience. First of all, I loved the cast of the film! The cast just gave off refreshing vibes because the main cast did not consist of A-list actors! The main cast consisted of newcomers like Angira Dhar and Alankrita Sahai. I like that Bollywood is slowly opening doors to newcomers and digital media like Netflix. Netflix provides more talent to newcomers and provides more pathways to people who want to get into acting. Vicky and Angira stole my heart with their acting. They have shown us how regular people like engineers or bankers live in Mumbai, the struggles these people have to go through and what they have to do to live the posh life in Mumbai, at least. Life in Mumbai is actually not a bed of roses. Middle-class people struggle to make a living in a country like India, where people have to compete every single day just to make ends meet. The supporting cast, Ratna Pathak Shah, Supriya Pathak, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Arunoday Singh have shown how Mumbai actually is. Mumbai is a city with different types of personalities, cultures, lifestyles... Mumbai is just like the Desi version of the United States, where you will find different cultures actually coming together and talking to each other, where people will learn about another culture better through their friends. I liked that the film has shown that life in India is not easy for a regular person. Life in India will be easy for a middle-class American person because a middle-class American will be able to afford a posh life in a third world country like India. However, a middle-class Indian will have to fight hard to live the best life. What I also love is that the diversity of India is shown in the film. That's how Mumbai actually is. Mumbai is a cosmopolitan environment, where you will find Indians of different ethnic backgrounds such as Jatts, Sindhis, Punjabis, Maharashtrians, Gujaratis, Rajputs, Tamilians, Malayalis, Mangaloreans and even Muslims and Christians! Well, you will also see that not everyone in Mumbai will speak in Hindi all the time. It depends on the crowd that they are with. And Mumbai mornings... The sceneries will just make you fall in love with the city all over again. When you wake up, you can just think to yourself, "It's going to be a beautiful day." Mumbai is a city that is so fast-paced, yet, full of emotion. It is a city that is full of creativity, yet intelligence. I just can't describe how Mumbai actually it. However, the music was ok... I was not really impressed with it, the tunes were not that addictive. The only song that caught my ears was Aashiyana, which picturises Vicky and Angira falling in love. Beyond that, the music was meh. The duration was not a problem in this film. The only problem I had with this film was the quality of the music. Sohail Sen made average music most of the time. I just kind of lost it. Being a lover of music, I was expecting more. However, this was the only thing that disappointed me. Beyond that, I had no problem at all. Should I watch it?
Watch it if you want to know how life in Mumbai is like for regular people like us and this film will make us understand why Indians from India are dying to get out of India. This film will also allow you to make travel plans to Mumbai! Make sure to check out the Central Station and Mannat (Shahrukh Khan's house)! Who is it suited for? It is suited for: - People aged 13 and above - People who actually want to know how life in Mumbai is like. - People who want to see films that are close to what real life is like. |
