Colours of clothing attires in both North & South India vary a lot. Even though East and West India are technically not part of North or South India, East and West India are considered to be part of North India since the languages spoken in states of East & West India are not South Indian languages. And the fashion of North and South India goes beyond Bandhani lehengas and Kanjeevaram sarees. It goes down to colour choices. In North India, colours there are very vibrant. The colours of the clothes aren't too loud, but rather, they are just nice for us to look at. I do not know what to say, but when you check out malls in North India and see the choices of colours there, you will get what I mean. All I can say is that colours of North India are very colourful and that the colours are suitable for almost every event. However, when it comes to the choices of South Indian colours, they tend to be very rigid in terms of giving off a very traditional vibe. The colours of South India suit Hindu events such as a prayer function or a wedding or something cultural. Normally, you would not find one wearing Kanjeevaram sarees for an every day occasion as they are saved for traditional functions. North Indian colours do not just suit traditional events, but they are also suited for daily wear. The colours of the kurtas for women are just so colourful that it just brightens up one's whole look. And, North Indian colours are even popular with young South Indian girls as well. And nowadays, you will realise that South Indian fashion is starting to pick up vibrancy from the colours of North India, East and West India. North, East and West India has similar colour choices for their clothes. They tend to be very vibrant, yet rooted to tradition and will suit daily events as well.

She proves that being true to your roots does not mean that you are conservative. It just shows that you are proud of your culture. How you think defines how conservative you are. Smitha DeepakA Tamilian-Kannadiga mix (Father is Tamilian, mother is Kannadiga) Youtuber who was born and brought up in Bangalore, a city located in the South Indian state of Karnataka, she now resides in San Francisco, a city in the state of California, United States. Smitha has gained her reputation by recreating looks of different Bollywood characters such as Hina Khan's bridal look from her last outing, Kausatii Zindagi Kay (above) or Alia Bhatt's Ghar More Pardesiya look from Kalank. Smitha also recreates real-life Bollywood Bridal looks such as that of Anushka Sharma's bridal look or reception looks such as Anushka's look for the reception of Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra last year. Another thing that Smitha has gained her reputation for is the fact that she is not seen using high-end brands in her videos often. We would see her using drugstore brands like Wet n Wild Beauty. She has shown that even with drugstore products, one can be as innovative and gorgeous as ever. Natasha MoorA Sindhi makeup artist, though travelling around the world often, she resides in Hong Kong. Natasha was born and raised in Hong Kong and we can see that the urbanisation of Hong Kong has made her taste towards the Indian culture very glamorous. Natasha Moor is known for the bridal makeup that she does on her clients. And when she does makeup on her clients, she is often seen trying to make every bride's look very urban yet traditional. Such as, leaving the bride's hair down or not using a bindi for the bride. Even while she dresses up, she picks very glamorous dresses and lehengas. Or, she will go for unique sarees or lehengas, which proves that Natasha Moor is an unconventional Indian makeup artist. I am sure that when he wanted to pursue the career of makeup artistry, he must have faced some backlash from the people around him. But despite that, he chose to pursue what he wants because he knows that how one feels about himself/herself matters most. What he/she wants to do with his/her life, only that person is responsible for their life. If Mickey were to care about what people would say about him wanting to pursue Makeup Artistry, I am sure he would not be very happy. Rather, he would have ended up being like 98% of the people in this world. Where they would just be doing marketing or engineering jobs for the sake of it and are not happy. In makeup tutorial videos and makeup courses in school, teachers and beauty influencers always use false eyelashes during lessons and in their videos. Do I need false eyelashes?Personally, I would say it depends. Not everyone needs false eyelashes. I personally am not fond of using false eyelashes as it is very uncomfortable for my eyes and it makes it hard for me to do my eye makeup especially. Though I do look as good with false eyelashes, I do not like wearing them too often. And by God's grace, I have amazing eyelashes that with mascara, it just volumes up to the perfect volume for my lashes. And, if I do use false eyelashes, I would use natural eyelashes and not dramatic ones. I hate thick falsies as it makes my makeup fake as a whole and I don't want to be looking like a fake joker, or an overrated person as a whole. I would want to experiment using individual falsies though. Because this makeup artist Natasha Moor, uses individual lashes just to make her makeup look more natural, yet define the features of her bride. How do I know if I need falsies? You would need falsies when:
I honestly know people who do not need falsies at all. And without mascara, their lashes carry lots of volume that with mascara, it just increases and accentuates the beauty of a woman's eyes. I will definitely say that not all women are lucky to have amazing raw lashes. But still, if you want your lashes to just look defined and beautiful, just use what is needed for your lashes. Don't use falsies just because people say that you must use falsies at all times.
Every woman wants to look good on her d-day as it is one of the most memorable days of her life. There are some Indian designers who literally make amazing bridal lehengas! These are the designers you need to consider for your d-day. SabyasachiWe all know that Sabyasachi is popular with wedding lehengas and sarees. He constantly has big clients such as that of Vidya Balan, Anushka Sharma and Saina Nehwal, where their wedding lehengas and sarees were designed by him only. Varun BahlVarun Bahl makes amazing bridal lehengas, like literally. Though he does not have that many big clients like B-town celebrities or popular sports players like how Sabyasachi does, he is indeed popular with Indians residing out of India thanks to his soft gold intricate designs and the way he makes use of pastel colours for lehengas. Abu Jani Sandeep KhoslaDid you know that Shlok Mehta, the wife of Akash Ambani, got her wedding lehenga designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla? Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, though they are more popular with anarkalis and sarees for promotional events, their designs of bridal lehengas made are just as amazing. In fact, Priyanka Chopra Jonas got her anarkali dress worn on her mehendi day designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla themselves! Manish MalhotraAlthough Manish Malhotra is probably the best designer when it comes to costumes for films as shown in Dostana (2008), 2 States (2014), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Chennai Express (2013, I hate Deepika Padukone though, but the designs of her costumes were really nice!), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), Kurbaan (2009) and so many more films to name out. He does design amazing lehengas and you need to check out his bridal collection from his fashion shows!
Kareena Kapoor Khan, also known as Bebo in the Film Industry, has just turned 39 yesterday. Sometimes, age does not show on her face and she looks fresh even without makeup. When you see her face without makeup, you just wonder how does she maintain this glow on her skin even as she grows older. Here are some beauty, fitness and diet tips from our one and only Bebo. Beauty TipsKareena Kapoor uses a face wash, an anti-aging moisturiser and a sunscreen to maintain her skin tone shade and to prevent her skin from aging. She tries to stay without makeup as much as possible while she is not shooting for an ad or a movie. Ever since Kareena Kapoor has turned vegetarian in 2007, she has shared that a meatless diet has helped in making her skin glow more and keeping her healthy. To make her skin glow even more, she drinks eight to ten glasses of boiled water to remove toxins from her body. At night, Kareena minimises her makeup usage and keeps it to using a kohl eyeliner and mascara. Whenever she has the time, she massages her head with a mixture of castor oil, coconut oil, almond and olive oil. She is not a big fan of facials, so she avoids going for facials. Diet TipsSince Kareena Kapoor is a vegetarian, she tries to eat as much vegetables as possible. She keeps her carb choices healthy such as chappati, brown rice, dosas, idlis and avoids unhealthy carbs like that of pasta and ice cream as it will make her gain weight. Though Kareena Kapoor is a human being, she has pizza occasionally as it is her comfort food. Kareena is a vegetarian and avoids meat and seafood in her diet. Being a gradual converting vegetarian myself, I can definitely guarantee you that eating less meat definitely makes your skin glow more often and that you will have less facial problems like that of pimples and acne on your face. Meat, in fact, does not do too many wonders to your skin as it is not able to flush out certain toxins from your body. Meat also makes your face look bulky and dehydrated. And remember, before the meat is sold to us, animals are injected with steroids that helps them to grow faster for us to consume. So, when we eat meat and seafood, these steroids enter our bodies, which then speeds up the aging process of our body and skin as a whole. Fitness TipsKareena Kapoor is not a fan of being a stick figure or a size zero. She aims to be fit and yet, develop curves around her body to feel sexy and to embrace herself as a whole.
Kareena is very religious when it comes to her fitness regime. She swears upon Yoga and is a big fan of Ashtanga Yoga and Power Yoga. In Addition to Yoga, she does 50 Surya Namaskars daily. In addition to Yoga and Surya Namaskars, she works out for an hour daily at the gym, doing cardio and weights. Indian Bridal makeup is something that I personally love, especially the jewellery, the hairdos and the lehengas. They are just so vibrant that you are not able to resist them. The most fun thing would be to dress the bride up for their d-day and as an aspiring makeup artist, I am bound to explore different South Asian bridal looks, for a start. Here are some of my favourite bridal looks of all-time. Also, I have been gaga-ing over Bridal makeup as one of my most favourite makeup artists, Natasha Moor, is a makeup artist who does Bridal makeup. Rajput BridalOne thing that I love about the Rajput bridal look is royalty. The royalty of this bridal look is shown through the choices of jewellery. You will realise that the in a traditional Rajput bridal look, the choices of jewellery is so grand and the designs are just so attractive that it just enhances the bride's beauty, making her feel like a royal Indian beauty on her d-day. Punjabi BridalPunjabi brides are known for one thing, the Kalire. Kalire is basically golden accessories that Punjabi brides wear with their chooda, where the kalire is tied to their bangles by her sister and friends. The Kalire's purpose or significance is to give good wishes to the bride and to remind her of her cousins and friends whom she is going to leave behind when she gets married. Punjabi weddings are also really grand in their own way. So... you will never be disappointed at a Punjabi wedding. Bengali BridalThe Bengali bridal look is unique because Bengali brides wear a mukut, which is a traditional white Bengali crown that Bengali brides wear on their wedding day. And, their foreheads are designed so beautifully because the designs are very simple, yet grand. Normally, Bengali brides will opt for traditional Bengali jewellery. However, you will find that Bengali brides like Bipasha Basu Singh Grover (above) opt for non-Bengali jewellery to spice up her bridal look and make the Bengali bridal look unconventional. Maharashtrian BridalI would say that the Maharashtrian bridal look is also pretty unique because of the accessory that they tie around their head, which is known as the mundavalya. The mundavalya is a forehead ornament that Maharashtrian brides and grooms tie around their head, which signifies the togetherness of the bride and the groom themselves. Maharashtrian brides are also unique because their choice of saree is either a green or yellow Paithani silk saree. And, their choices of jewellery is either gold or pearl, but of course, in traditional Maharashtrian designs. Gujarati BridalThe Gujarati bridal look is similar to that of a North Indian bride, the only difference is that normally, Gujaratis would drape their lehenga pallus will fall in front from the right shoulder. Whereas, North Indian brides will drape similarly to that of a Gujarati bride. Except, North Indian brides normally would pin the end of the dupatta to the back of the lehenga on the left side. Kerala BridalAnd finally, let's come to the Kerala bridal look. Personally speaking, this is my most favourite South Indian bridal look, of all the looks that I have seen. One, the choice of gold jewellery used for a Kerala bride is just so beautiful. Secondly, the Malayalis know how to make good use of the jewellery and enhance the beauty of their brides. They know that if your hair is elaborate, then we should go a little low key on the jewellery. However, if your jewellery is heavy in amount, then let's go simple on the hair. And since Malayalis tend to use a lot of jewellery for their wedding, they have decided to keep their hair low-key beautiful.
Ok, so lately, I have been using this brand for my skin care called Nu Skin. Trust me, after using this brand for my skin care, I feel much more confident about myself, especially with my skin looking less dull and more intact as a whole, I would definitely invest in this brand. If not for skin care, I would invest in this brand for cosmetics. So, here are some things that you need to invest on from this brand. AGELOC LUMISPAOk this is a must have from this brand. I was gifted this by a friend and she has promised me benefits when I would use this product. She was right. One prominent benefit that I have seen is that my face feels much cleaner. Especially if you have makeup on, you will realise that after using wet wipes and toner to clean your face, there will still be some makeup left on our face, just that we do not know it. So, what this device will do is clean all the micro makeup that is still left on our face, which means that we will have less pimples on our face in the long run. And, our face appears to be much cleaner than it was... And more radiant! Oh! But before you use the LUMISPA, purchase the moisture mist as your face needs to be wet before you use the LUMISPA. POWERlips fluid lipstickOk, so I have six shades of these lipsticks and personally speaking, I love the quality of the product! I love the fragrance of these lippies. it is just so refreshing that you are bound to feel relaxed. I mean, you guys should purchase these lipsticks! Plus, I am someone who has a thing for liquid lipsticks so... yeah. Just purchase them! That is all I have to recommend for now as I only have these products in hand. The rest... They will be recommended later.
Ok, so I was watching Sridevi's last film before she passed away, called Mom (2017 Hindi film), which has Pakistani actress Sajal Aly portraying Sridevi's step-daughter in the film. I love Sajal Aly's acting in the film and I fell in love with her, especially her looks in the film. I will admit, Pakistani women are super beautiful! So beautiful that you would just be starstruck when you see them! This was what made me want to make a beauty post on Sajal Aly. So, here are some beauty tips on how to look youthful like Sajal Aly. DietSajal Aly is very conscious about her diet. So she is not someone who likes eating junk food but rather, she enjoys home-cooked food. However, she is very fond of pizzas. In the morning, she takes one brown bread with egg and a cup of tea without sugar. For lunch, she consumes lots of vegetables and fruits for vitamins and minerals. And for dinner, she consumes a portion of steamed chicken and vegetables to avoid carbs at night. BeautySajal Aly believes in natural, home-made skin care as organic ingredients tend to have more natural nutrients. To have fairer and brighter skin like Sajal Aly, make a home-made face mask mixture out of turmeric powder, cream, lemon juice and gram flour. The steps:
FitnessShe is not someone who likes going to the gym, though she is conscious about her health. So, this section will be useful for those who hate going to the gym.
She is a cardio fan, so, she goes out in the early morning and runs for at least 30 minutes. To work on her strength and muscles, she does push-ups as it enhances the upper body's strength. She is not a regular visitor to the gym. However, she makes sure that she does not miss her workout. Coming to the last part of my series, I would say that there were not many characters between the periods of 2010 and 2011 that matched to my standard of glamorous. Only six of them did and they have displayed glamour in many ways. Here are the six characters between the period 2010 and 2011. Simran - I Hate Luv Storys (2010)Playing a woman who loves Bollywood Romances so much, her fashion sense in the film was such that it literally just shows that she is in a typical Bollywood film that is filled with lots of youth, love and light. Her fashion sense is targeted to young girls who are trying to create a fashion style for themselves. Simran from I Hate Luv Storys was portrayed by Sonam Kapoor Ahuja. Aisha Kapoor - Aisha (2010)Playing a young, rich upper-class Punjabi girl in this film, Sonam is bound to have her style that is really rich, grand in a youthful way and definitely her style is really urban in this film! For girls who want to look uber glamorous and rich, look up to Aisha Kapoor from the film Aisha! Aisha Kapoor from Aisha was portrayed by Sonam Kapoor Ahuja. Shreya Arora - We Are Family (2010)Having played the role of a stepmother in this film, Kareena's character in this film was also a fashion designer in this film, which means that her character's fashion sense has to be really glamorous and elegant. At the last scene, where she was seen in an Anarkali suit, Kareena knew just how to add a touch of glitz and glamour to her look. Shreya Arora from We Are Family was portrayed by Kareena Kapoor Khan. Sonia Subhramaniam - Ra.One (2011)Playing a North Indian woman who is married in this film, Kareena did not even look like a South Indian even in the first glance. She just knew how to take South Indian fashion to the next level and just make South Indian fashion admirable! Sonia Subhramaniam from Ra.One was portrayed by Kareena Kapoor Khan. Reshma/Silk - The Dirty Picture (2011)Playing the role of a real-life South Indian siren named Silk Smitha, Vidya Balan has shown that the South Indian film industry is just as glamorous as the Bollywood film industry, although Mumbai will always be the most glamorous city of India. Reshma aka Silk was portrayed by Vidya Balan. Roma Bhagat - Don 2 (2011)Playing the role of a cop based in Europe, Priyanka has made the fashion taste of a policewoman really hot. How in the sense that it is attractive. We know that in real-life, police officers are often known for not being fashionable because they are constantly seen in a uniform. Just imagine, if police officers need not wear a uniform, how amazing would that be!
Roma Bhagat from Don 2 was portrayed by Priyanka Chopra Jonas. I will admit that between the period of 2012 and 2013, there are so many characters who have given us ladies #FASHIONGOALS. We adore them so much that we pick up fashion ideas from them and just add these ideas into our daily wardrobe. Riana Braganza - Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012)Kareena played a Catholic character in this film. Probably a Goan Catholic... So, I would say that since Indian Christians and Catholics are often shown to be very urban and generally not spot Bindis while donning Indian attires, if you would want to make your wardrobe very urban, look up to Riana Braganza from Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu! Riana Braganza from Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu was portrayed by Kareena Kapoor Khan. Iram Parveen Bilal/Ruby Mendes - Agent Vinod (2012)I honestly loved Kareena's wardrobe in this film! One thing, her Mujra attire for one of her songs is just so sexy and seductive, yet elegant. Her Mujra attire in this film will inspire Muslim girls in terms of what to wear during Eid-Ul-Fitr or Eid-Ul-Adha. And not just her Mujra wear, her Western wear in this film was elegantly chic that it can inspire all girls of different faiths and ethnicities to actually make their wardrobe more elegant. Iram Parveen Bilal and Ruby Mendes from Agent Vinod were portrayed by Kareena Kapoor Khan. Paro - Rowdy Rathore (2012)At the start of her career, Sonakshi was known as the sweet Indian girl of Bollywood thanks to her continuous looks in different traditional Indian looks in her movies. In this film, she has draped her dupattas in a very unconventional way and she has also made nose rings a trend. The number of Indian girls getting their nose pierced is increasing nowadays. Paro from Rowdy Rathore was portrayed by Sonakshi Sinha. Ruksar/Aradhana/Radha Chopra - Teri Meri Kahaani (2012)Priyanka had three different looks in the film as the film was set in three different time phases, 1910; 1960 and 2012. So, for the three different time phases, Priyanka Chopra has three different looks. The look above is from the time phase of 1910, where she plays a Hindu woman. Priyanka has given Indian women #jhumkagoals, where Indian girls will get inspiration on adding different collections of jhumkas and jhumkis into their wardrobe. Her 1960 look has inspired Indian women to add different types of sarees into their wardrobes, other than buying the conventional Kanjeevaram silk sarees or Tant silks. Women who want to make their Desi avatar urban can look up to Priyanka's character from Teri Meri Kahaani, the 1960 phase. And finally, her 2012 look is just goals for those who want to be youthful and fashionable and who want to express themselves through fashion. Ruksar, Aradhana and Radha Chopra from Teri Meri Kahaani was portrayed by Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Zoya "Zee" Humaimi - Ek Tha Tiger (2012)Although Katrina Kaif was mostly seen in urban wear, her Pakistani wear in this film was beautiful in a simple way. As Katrina Kaif played a Pakistani woman in the film, Katrina has just made South Asian wear simply beautiful. Not just Indian wear, but Pakistani wear too! Zoya "Zee" Humaimi from Ek Tha Tiger was portrayed by Katrina Kaif. Mahi Arora - Heroine (2012)Kareena was simply gorgeous in this movie! You guys, once you watch this film, you will fall madly in love with Kareena Kapoor Khan! Her looks here were glamorous and they are meant to be glamorous as she played the role of a Bollywood actress and had to demonstrate how a Bollywood heroine would dress up and how urban she is at heart, while she keeps to her culture. Mahi Arora from Heroine was portrayed by Kareena Kapoor Khan. Shanaya Singhania - Student Of The Year (2012)Even though Student of the Year was Alia Bhatt's first film in her entire Bollywood career officially (Not counting Sangharsh (1999), where she was a child artist in that film.), her look in Student of the Year has just inspired young students to up their glamour quotient of their wardrobe and to explore to find out what best suits their body shape, personality, looks and style preference. Besides, Alia Bhatt is the next Madhuri Dixit Nene and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Shanaya Singhania from Student of the Year was portrayed by Alia Bhatt. Aarohi Shirke - Aashiqui 2 (2013)Shraddha Kapoor played a bar singer, who happens to become famous thanks to Aditya Roy Kapur, in the film that is. So, for her character, she was made to look simple because looking simple will show that she is not someone big and rich. So, for girls who want to look low-key beautiful, look up to Shraddha's character from Aashiqui 2. Aarohi Shirke from Aashiqui 2 was portrayed by Shraddha Kapoor. Pakhi Roy Chaudhary - Lootera (2013)This was the film that has actually showcased Sonakshi's acting skills. And also, she looked like a beautiful Bengali princess in this film. I fell in love with her look and the Bengali culture after seeing this film. Sonakshi's look from this film will inspire Bengali girls on how they can keep their Indian wardrobe as Bengali as it gets. Pakhi Roy Chaudhary from Lootera was portrayed by Sonakshi Sinha. Jasmine Sheikh - Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara! (2013)Lastly, Sonakshi's look in this film represented that of an Indian Muslim woman. Muslim Indians are known to keep everything simple and traditional. That's how Sonakshi's look was in the film. Although one thing, her character did show some sense of glamour with all the choices of her jewellery and the sequins on some of her dresses.
Jasmine Sheikh from Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara! was portrayed by Sonakshi Sinha. |
